Saif Ali Khan On Taking Paternity Leave: ‘If You Don’t See Your Children Growing Up, You’re Making A Mistake’
Saif Ali Khan is quite a dedicated actor, but he is also a family man through and through. The actor is all set to become a father for the fourth time. He has two kids- daughter Sara Ali Khan and son Ibrahim Ali Khan- from his previous marriage to Amrita Singh. In 2016, Saif and Kareena Kapoor Khan welcomed their first child Taimur Ali Khan. Now, Saif and Kareena are awaiting the arrival of their second baby together, and Saif will be taking a paternity leave so he can spend time with the newborn baby.

Saif Ali Khan had taken paternity leave even back when Sara Ali Khan was born. He opened up about the importance of taking paternity leave, while also accepting that it is a privilege to be able to take time off work. In an interview with Elle magazine, Saif said, “Who wants to work when you have a newborn at home! If you don’t see your children growing up, you’re making a mistake. And I can take time off from work—it’s a privileged position. Rather than follow a 9-to-5 routine, I live like an actor. Your dharma and approach to everything are based on your career.”

Saif further said that his profession can become all-consuming and rather boring, which is why self-care and experiencing new things is important. “My self-care involves looking good for films, and that involves doing everything right—eating healthy, sleeping well, being happy and mentally at peace,” he said.
